Email Notifications
Email Notifications
TL;DR
MastChain can email you when a station’s performance changes and when the team posts service or product news. All three categories are off by default. You must enable them from Account Settings before anything is sent.
- Three categories: Station Alerts, Service Notices, Product News
- All default to off; you opt in per category
- Configured from your Account Settings, togglable at any time
- Station alerts fire the morning after a station crosses 80% heartbeat in either direction
No emails are sent until you turn something on.
How It Works
MastChain sends two kinds of emails.
Station Alerts are automated. They are sent if one of your stations crosses the 80% heartbeat threshold. If you want to catch a degraded station before it costs you another day of rewards, this is the category to turn on.
Platform emails are manual. The team sends them when there’s a service notice or product update to share.
Each category has its own toggle in Account Settings. Until a category is on, no emails from that category are sent.
Station Alerts
Station Alerts tell you when one of your stations starts underperforming, and again when it recovers.
Your station’s heartbeat percentage is checked once per day against the 80% threshold.
Downtime alert: sent after a station drops from above 80% to below 80%.
Recovery alert: sent the morning after a station crosses back above 80%.
The trigger is the crossing, not the absolute level. A station that sits at 50% for a week does not generate a new email every day.
Example:
You own three stations. One night, the antenna connection on one degrades and its heartbeat drops from 95% to 62%. The next morning, you receive a Station Alert showing that station below threshold, with a link to its page. You fix the connection that afternoon. Once the station has spent a day back above 80%, you receive a recovery email the following morning confirming it’s healthy again.
Service Notices and Product News
These are the two platform-wide email categories. Both are sent on demand, only when the team has something to publish. There’s no scheduled cadence.
Service Notices cover network incidents, scheduled maintenance, security advisories, and anything else that affects how the platform works. Turn this on if you want to know when the network is degraded or when a migration is happening.
Product News covers new features, rewards-related announcements, and other product updates. Less urgent than service notices, but typically more frequent.
How to Configure
Go to Account Settings → Email Notifications.
Toggle any of the three categories on or off: Station Alerts, Service Notices, Product News.
Done. Changes save immediately.
To turn a category off again, toggle it back from the same screen. No confirmation step, no cooldown.
All emails for your account go to the email address on file. There is no per-station or per-category override.
Important Notes
- Everything is off by default. Until you open Account Settings and enable a category, no emails from that category are sent.
- Station Alerts are threshold-based, not uptime-based. A station that sits at 50% continuously does not trigger a daily email. The alert fires only on the day a station crosses 80% in either direction.
- Alerts need prior-day data. Threshold crossings are computed by comparing yesterday to the day before. A brand-new station cannot trigger an alert until it has at least two days of performance history.
- One email address per account. All alerts for all stations on your account go to the same address. There is no per-station override.
- Emails come from a single MastChain address. Replies go to a monitored inbox.
FAQ — Email Notifications
How do I turn on notifications?
Go to Account Settings → Email Notifications and toggle the categories you want. All three are off by default.
What’s the difference between a downtime alert and a recovery email?
A downtime alert is sent the morning after a station’s heartbeat drops from above 80% to below it. A recovery email is sent the morning after it crosses back above 80%.
Will I get an alert every day my station is below 80%?
No. You get one alert when the station crosses the threshold. If it stays below 80%, no further emails are sent until it crosses back above.
Can I choose a different email address for notifications?
Not currently. All emails go to the email address on your account.
Can I set different preferences for different stations?
No. Notification preferences are account-wide. If Station Alerts are on, you get alerts for every station your account owns.
What happens if I turn a category off?
Emails in that category stop immediately. Anything already queued for the current run may still send, but nothing new is generated.
Why didn’t I get an alert even though my station was underperforming?
Most likely one of the following:
- The category is off in your settings.
- The station hasn’t crossed the 80% threshold from one day to the next (it has been underperforming continuously).
- The station doesn’t yet have two days of performance data.
Where do replies to alert emails go?
All emails come from a single MastChain address. Replies go to a monitored inbox and will reach the team.
