Station Reward Sharing
TL;DR
Every station can share a fixed percentage of its daily rewards with another MastChain account.
- Configured per station by the owner (1% to 99%)
- Requires the recipient to have a free MastChain account
- Paid nightly, automatically, alongside regular station rewards
- Can be changed or stopped at any time; past payouts are never recalculated
The common use case: you own the hardware but someone else hosts it on their property. Configure the split once, and the platform handles it every night.
How It Works
The owner picks a recipient and a percentage. Each night, when station rewards are calculated, the system splits that station’s reward at the configured ratio. The owner’s share lands in their wallet; the recipient’s share lands in theirs. Both see the payout the next morning.
Splits are configured per station, not per account. If you own multiple stations and want the same recipient on all of them, you set it up on each one individually.
Example:
A station earns 1.00 MAST on a given day. The owner has a 30% share configured to a hosting partner. The partner receives 0.30 MAST that night; the owner receives 0.70 MAST.
Common scenario:
The feature was built around a specific arrangement: one person owns the hardware, another provides the location. User A buys MastNodes but has nowhere to install them. User B has a rooftop, dock, or tower, and agrees to host the hardware in exchange for a cut of the rewards. User A keeps the stations in their account, handles remote maintenance, and configures a reward share. User B creates an account, shares their code, and from that point on receives their portion automatically every night.
How to Set It Up
If you are the station owner
Go to Stations and open the station you want to configure.
Find the Reward Sharing card.
Click Set up sharing.
Enter the recipient’s 8-character sharing code (they can find it in their Account Settings under Station Sharing Code).
Enter the percentage you want to share, between 1 and 99.
Click Save.
That’s it. The split takes effect on the next nightly reward cycle.
If you are the recipient
Create an account at app.mastchain.io.
Go to Account Settings → Station Sharing Code and copy your 8-character code.
Send that code to the station owner.
Once the owner saves the configuration, shared rewards will appear in your Wallet automatically each night. No further action needed on your side.
Changing or Stopping a Share
On the same Reward Sharing card on the station’s page:
- Edit to change the percentage or switch to a different recipient.
- Remove to stop sharing entirely.
Changes take effect from the next nightly cycle. Rewards already paid out are not recalculated.
Payouts
Shared rewards are paid nightly, at the same time regular station rewards are calculated. The morning after each active day, both owner and recipient see their portion in their respective wallets.
A few things to know about how payouts show up:
- The owner’s wallet shows only their portion. The shared amount is deducted before the daily credit.
- The recipient’s wallet shows the shared amount under a separate line tied to the source station.
- Both sides can see the split in the station’s transaction history.
- The recipient is identified in the transaction history by their 8-character code, not their name.
Important Notes
- One recipient per station. You cannot split a single station’s reward across multiple accounts.
- The recipient account must exist when you save. The system looks up the sharing code at save time. If the code is wrong or the account hasn’t been created yet, the save will fail.
- You cannot share with yourself. The system rejects it.
- Each station is configured independently. If you want the same recipient on multiple stations, you set it up on each one.
- No retroactive changes. Edits and removals apply from the next cycle onward. Nothing already paid out is clawed back or recalculated.
Zero-earning days produce no shared reward. If the station was offline or earned nothing that day, the recipient receives nothing for that day.
FAQ — Station Reward Sharing
Where do I find my sharing code?
In Account Settings, under Station Sharing Code. It’s a unique 8-character code tied to your account.
What percentage can I share?
Any whole number from 1 to 99.
Can I share the same station with more than one person?
No. Each station has one recipient.
Can I use the same recipient across multiple stations?
Yes, but each station is configured independently. You’ll need to set it up on each station separately.
What happens if I change the percentage or recipient?
The change takes effect on the next nightly reward cycle. Rewards already credited are not recalculated.
What happens if I remove the share?
From the next cycle onward, the full reward goes back to the owner. Historical shared payouts are preserved in the transaction history.
What if the station earns nothing that day?
The recipient receives nothing for that day. There’s no minimum or base payment. The split applies only to whatever the station actually earned.
Can I share with myself?
No. The system blocks any sharing code that resolves to the same account.
What happens if the station is deleted?
The sharing configuration is removed with the station. Historical shared reward records are retained for auditability.
Does the recipient need to do anything to receive rewards?
Just create an account and give the owner their 8-character sharing code. Everything after that is automatic.
